Caring for your Jewellery

Murano glass birds:

As each glass bird is handmade, the Murano glass is unique and can contain small variations in the design and the colouring. Each glass bird has been kiln annealed for strength and durability.

Sterling silver plated chains and findings:

All sterling silver will tarnish over time, but it will happen much faster when it comes into contact with agents such as perfume, salty air, sulphur, skin creams, hairspray, chlorine and acidic skin ph. Tarnishing/Oxidisation is a natural process and is dependent on the skin and care habits of the wearer. As the chains are plated they will naturally fade with wear, but you can do the following to prolong the life of your jewellery:

  • For daily care, simply wipe the glass with a soft lint-free cloth. Use a polishing cloth for the silver parts to prevent tarnishing and make the silver shine.
  • Polishing cloths impregnated with chemicals must not be used on the glass as it can damage its integrity.
  • To clean your jewellery use hot water with a small amount of mild liquid soap. Rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth
  • We do not recommend the use of silver polish, ultrasonic cleaners and silver dip as it may destroy the silver plating
  • Do not expose the jewellery to harsh chemicals, ammonia, bleach, chlorine and salt water
  • When jewellery is not worn, it should be stored in a protective box or sealed bag
  • If the glass becomes "dry" or dull, use a small amount of mineral oil, rub in circles with a very soft, preferably lint-free cloth, and wipe off excess.
  • We also recommend that you do not wear your jewellery whilst bathing, whilst in bed or during sporting activities.
